30 Days - Change your habits, Change your life

A couple of simple steps every day to create the life you want

Mark Reklau

Overview

This book was recommended within the Jay Shetty LIfe Coach Certification School. It was not mandatory, more so as continued reading to help further develop the skills we were developing at the time. Initially I was attracted to the book from the title. However, as I dove into its contents I quickly realized that the book was something much different than what I was expecting.

My assumption (yes, yes… we all know what they say about those) was that this book was about developing habits. Specifically I thought it was a 30 day plan to create new habits inline with a reader's big goal. To the contrary, this book is not a 30 day plan at all. Instead, the reference to 30 days is simply a premise that it takes about that much time to form new habits.

Instead, this book is packed with insightful references, introspective questions, and impactful actions to be taken on the part of the reader.

Key Insights

  • Some books are very theoretical, this book directly prompts you to take action.
  • The author does a great job of using bold and italics to emphasize and create tone.
  • Extremely reader focused! Puts them in charge of their own destiny.
  • Bite size chapters. 1-3 page quick reads… quick, but powerful!
  • Very logical progression in the concepts introduced and actions recommended.
  • As a Coach, I love all the introspective questions throughout the book.
  • The author's desire to help others grow is palpable.

A few of my favorite quotes from the book!

Everything that happens to you is created by You - either consciously by design or unconsciously by default; it's not a result of fate or circumstances.

It doesn't matter what happened in your past. Your future is a clean sheet! You can reinvent yourself!

The victim says: Every bad thing in my life is others' fault, but if you are not part of theproblem, then you also can't be a part of the solution.
Mark Reklau : 30 Days - Change your habits, Change your life
It's not what happens in your life that's important; it's how you respond to what happens to you that makes your life!

The words that we use to describe our experiences become our experiences.

Without action, there are no results. Without results, there is no feedback. Without feedback, there is no learning. Without learning, we can't improve. Without improving, we can't develop our full potential.
